RAW SILK’s Top 10 Floorfillers

RAW SILK is the alias of best mates Grace and Steph: two of London’s grooviest DJs of disco, funk, new wave and house. They have been crafting their sound as residents of Percolate in the capital, and have become notorious for their giddy passion for playing banging 80s alternative club tracks. On 4th August, they make their debut at HiFi alongside our friends Horse Meat Disco for a super special party for Leeds Pride, where their ecstatic selections will be the perfect catalyst for queer dance floor heaven. Check out their floor filling picks below for a teaser.

Thompson Twins – Love On Your Side (Rap Boy Rap)

“Synth-pop set starter, the shouty vocals & drums in this are too groovy. Thompson Twins work in any set in our opinion, TOO many tunes.”

Sunkids Feat. Chance – Rescue Me (Bini & Martini ‘999’ Funk Mix)

“A chuggy house groover with an epic soulful vocal. This is a go-to track for us which is sure to keep any dance floor pumping.”

Level 42 – Mind On You (John Morales Edit)

“We play this new-wave funk monster almost every set. Such a good edit from disco King Morales and love all the Latin elements.”

Mansa Musa – Beat The Drum (Keshavs Rework)

“Cree records is one of our favourite labels, re-issuing Reggae, Ska and Calypso sounds of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. This remix helps turn this African jazz into a dancefloor pumper.”

Club Ultimate – Carnival ’95 Pride Vocal Mix

“Strictly Rhythm banger at its best, can’t wait to pump this out at Pride!”

Mr G – All In Time

“Pretty much anything by Mr G is a sure floorfiller but we love how this track builds and of course the Whitney vocal.”

Bas Noir – My Love Is Magic Dub

“New favourite, an old Nu Groove dub that has so much soul. Naughty but nice!!”

Esa – A Muto

“This fusion of Zouk and Makossa is one of our favourite styles of music from the 80’s. Nouvelle Ambience released a compilation recently which beautifully captures the underground Pan-African music scene in Paris from this time and this track is one of our faves.”

The Danse Society – Do it Again (12” version)

“Goth-rock never sounded so frivolous & fun, love this tune so much & even if you don’t know the lyrics, it still is a great sing-a-long.”

Bob Sinclair – Gymtonic

“A 90’s classic from Bob Sinclair, always fun, always gets the dancefloor going!”
