Sunday Joint: APLTN & Guests
Sunday 3 October 2021
APLTN // Lodder/Nossen/Creighton & Guests // DJ NikNak
APLTN is the musical brainchild of ace Leeds based electric bass player and producer Sam Palizian. Releasing various EP’s on his own as a producer since 2019 for labels including Collage Music and Well Overdue , this project then developed into a full band for live sets featuring some of the best young musicians on the vibrant Leeds DIY jazz/global beats/electronic music scenes. Most recent releases included “Ain’t That Deep” EP with electronic music producer Tambala plus “Vibe Out To Help Out”, both released in 2020.
APLTN have created a unique live set mixing beats/samples/effects with live musicians and blending jazz, electronica, broken beats and a myriad of different influences into one joyous APLTN sound. They’ve played at Solar in London plus Headrow House in Leeds, including supporting Children Of Zeus. In August 2021, they appeared live at Gilles Peterson’s iconic We Out Here Festival. The band are:
Sam Palizian (electric bass), Troy Kay (guitar), Saul Duff (tenor sax), Grifton Forbes-Amos (trumpet), Zsolti Farkas (vocals) and Theo Goss (drums).
Support comes from the Sunday Joint resident house band and trio LNC3 featuring some of the best young musicians on the Leeds jazz/soul/beats scene backing guest singers/MCs/musicians from Leeds Conservatoire and non-student musicians too. LNC3 aka Lodder/Nossen/Creighton are Jonny Lodder (drums), Amanda Nossen (bass guitar) and Eve Creighton (electric guitar) will be playing original tunes and some reimagined covers plus featuring some guest singers/MCs/musicians in their set.
