Sunday Joint Presents Mansion Of Snakes + Punto Sabor

Sunday 2 February 2020

Mansion of Snakes are the earth shaking afrobeat meets cosmic funk and punk jazz behemoth from Leeds/London. Fronted by the amazing voice and cutting social commentary of singer and percussionist Vanessa Rani, the band fuses the musical influences of Nigerian afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti with fiery jazz solos, heady George Clinton/Parliament psychedelic funk and the punk energy of late 1970s New York.

Having formed in 2016, the band released their debut EP followed in 2018 with a vinyl 7″ single for Leeds DIY label Come Play With Me Records. The latter getting airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Music Introducing. Mansion Of Snakes are known for their incendiary live shows both at clubs and festivals across the nation. In the past few years they’ve played across the UK at Green Man Festival, Smugglers Festival, Shambala Festival, Beatherder Festival, Flatlands Festival, Long Division Festival and the iconic Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club at Manchester’s Band on the Wall. Their long awaited debut album dropped in November 2019. Mansion Of Snakes Leeds shows are rare these days as the band are spread across the UK in Leeds, London and the South West so do not miss this one.

Support from young Ecuadorian bass player Lennyn San Pedro and his Punto Sabor Latin jazz band. Lennyn is in his 3rd year at Leeds College Of Music and his band features some of the best musicians from his year as well and Leeds young veteran (at 23) drummer Tim Cook from Necktr and TC & The Groove Family. Hot and heavy salsa-meets-jazz. Get down early for some hot Latin beats.

Doors 8.00pm. Live music 8.45pm and 10.00pm. DJ Lubi before and between sets and Sunday Joint DJs after the live music until late. Entry is as always FREE.
