Sunday Bests: Tankus The Henge

For 20 years, HiFi has specialised in postponing the working week that bit longer, and squeezing as much fun out of the weekend as possible. Each week at the Sunday Joint we welcome all you weekend warriors in for a free night of cutting edge live music and DJs, and we don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

So, to celebrate this “day of rest”, we ask our SJ bands to name their Sunday Bests. Here are the picks of one of London’s most energetic live bands, who make a welcome return to HiFi this weekend.

Act name: Tankus the Henge

Band members: Jaz, Tim, Tom, Andy, Faye

Hometown: London

Genre: Loud freaky joy.

Best album for a Sunday

The Sophtware Slump by Grandaddy. Lie down in a dark place, if it’s winter, with headphones on. Or in a field if it’s summer. Foolproof even for fools.

Best meal for a Sunday

Vegan thai green curry at a big table full of friends.

Best film for a Sunday

Oh, probably “Once Upon A Time In The West” by Sergio Leone. Music by Ennio Morricone. Or “The Big Lebowski”.

Sunday: day of rest, work or play? What do you do?

Always work. Always have done. Whether it’s working in a rock n roll band, on a funfair or at a bar. Tuesday is our weekend each week.

Your most memorable Sunday

The most recent one, every time. Strive to make each week the best week you have ever lived.

What can we expect from your performance on Sunday?

An explosion of groove, good times, new friends and a life affirming feeling that if we stick together, it’s going to be alright.
